The Tariff Act of 1930 (codified at 19 U.S.C. ch. 4), commonly known as the Smoot–Hawley Tariff or Hawley–Smoot Tariff, was an act implementing protectionist trade policies sponsored by Senator Reed Smoot and Representative Willis C. Hawley and was signed into law on June 17, 1930. The act raised U.S. tariffs on over 20,000 imported goods.

Chers amis francophones. Voici une petite interview que j'ai donnée récemment à la division parisienne de la Voix de l'Amérique sur «l'effet Trump» dans l'économie américaine. Désolé pour mon français tout oublié.

1. Le marché boursier aux Etats-Unis ne cesse d’atteindre des chiffres records cette année. Qu'est-ce qui pourrait expliquer cette euphorie, selon vous?

Le premier est l'euphorie générale du marché - peut-être l'illusion serait un meilleur mot - sur les réductions d'impôts du Congrès. La seconde est l'anticipation d'une hausse des taux d'intérêt de la part de la Fed et des marges plus importantes qui l'accompagnent. Le troisième est l'assouplissement continu de la réglementation et des normes de surveillance par l'administration de President Trump.

2. Y a-t-il un «effet Trump», comme certains le suggèrent?

Trump sera en mesure de mettre en œuvre la relance budgétaire keynésienne. The South Slope, originally South Park Slope, is a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City, which is located between Sunset Park and Park Slope. Gowanus (/ɡəˈwɑːnəs/ gə-wah-nəs) is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, within the South Brooklyn area. The neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community Board 6. Gowanus is bounded by Wyckoff Street on the north, Fourth Avenue on the east, the Gowanus Expressway to the south, and Smith and Hoyt Streets to the west.

Muss Development and AvalonBay Communities filed a so-called “test the market” application for 56 condominium units at a proposed 232-unit residential tower in Sheepshead Bay, according to documents filed with the state Attorney General’s office.

The condos will occupy the top floors of what will be Sheepshead Bay’s tallest building, at 331 feet. Perkins Eastman is the architect of record for the glassy 28-story project at 1501 Voorhies Avenue, spanning 260,000 square feet of residential space and 15,000 square feet of commercial space.

If approved, the application would allow the developers to gauge buyer interest before submitting an actual offering plan.The development site, an empty lot several blocks from the Sheepshead Bay, was completely flooded during Superstorm Sandy. An alternate address for the site is 1600 Sheepshead Bay Road.The South Brooklyn neighborhood has recently emerged as a market for condos. Rybak Development & Construction is planning a 90,000-square-foot building that would be the most expensive condo development ever in the neighborhood, with a projected sellout of $77.2 million.This can set a new market standard for house development - pre-sale of the construction on very early stages, which would allow to boost the project fundraising phase significantly. Construction spending in New York City is on track this year to surpass the record set just before the financial crisis as an all-time high in city jobs drives strong demand for new housing and office space, an industry association said on Tuesday.The New York Building Congress forecast construction spending this year will reach $43.1 billion, a 26 percent increase from 2015 and the first time the metric will have eclipsed the $40 billion mark in the city.The association projected spending of $42.1 billion in 2017 and $42.3 billion the year after as the biggest building boom since the 1980s changes the skyline in downtown Manhattan, its far West Side and in Long Island City across the East River.New York City employment has grown 18 percent since late 2009, the strongest pace in decades, as seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment rose to a record 4.3 million jobs in September, according to the state's Department of Labor.Growth in private sector jobs increased 2.3 percent in the city, faster than the U.S. average of 1.9 percent, as millennials seek to live, work and play in urban environments.

Though we are sure that along the four decades route of European integration Britain has integrated so deeply, and embedded itself in the 28-nation bloc, that there is no easy escape way, yet the Brexit consequences for the US economy may be notable.

We have not seen a sharp increase of the real estate investors profile in the most recent time in New York, but an expected slowdown of the real estate market in New York, has not taken place, despite that it was well anticipated. Moreover, the prices for the rent, lease and sale of real estate in New York have again gone up in August and September. The investors from Asia maintain a high profile on the New York market and it looks like some of the funding to be placed in London, may have been diverted to New York.
